I have represented many taxpayers at the General Commissioners for Income Tax with a high level of success both in Investigation work and appeals against imposed penalties for late filing of documents as well as technical matters such as the rejection by HMR&C of claims to relief or allowable deductions against profit.
I have also dealt with many VAT investigations and been involved in many Missing Trader cases. I have only been instructed twice to represent traders at Tribunal hearings but won both.
I worked on and was a witness in the High Court case of Charlton & Others versus CIR.
I work i nvestigation cases every day of my working life and have a record of not only settling them speedily but often achieve high savings on the HMR&C proposals. I not only work “District” cases but many cases handled by Special Civil Investigations and Civil Investigation of fraud.

My Book
I have recently completed the book "Everything you need to know about Tax." This is a hefty volume of nearly 300 pages providing plain language advice. Pre-publication copies are available in Word format with hyperlinks to chapters, topics and Tax case law. You can see a short extract of the book here.
If you would like a free copy of the book please email me at Peter@peterclare.com . All I ask is a discretionary charitable donation.
